Good reminder on perfect form. Having suffered an a/c separation Christmas 2006 (pinnned and pin removed and rehab) I do push ups in place of bbell benching. What safe progressions are there to the basic push up please? I’ve often thought about doing tricep push ups hands together on floor or using double grip med ball – are these likely to be ok? Thanks

Thanks Eric! I recently noticed the elbows flaring and realized I was reaching the ground head-first. It helps to see proper form. Thanks again.

Thanks for this one. This makes me feel pretty good about my push-up form, but I’ll be paying extra attention now.
Is it a bad idea for the head to be up –i.e., facing forward rather than down?

Eric, I can’t get my chest to the floor apart from a pronounced piking movement. Now, I should also add that I’m a skinny guy with a shallow chest.
In my case, is it sufficient to lead with my chest, as best I can, and avoid reaching with my head ?
