It's been a while since I posted an "Exercise of the Week," but hopefully today's offering will atone for that, as this is one of my favorite exercises to program in the late off-season period for our athletes. Check out the video below to learn how to deadlift using a trap bar and bands.

Michelle – We’ll usually start with a 45 on each side and just work our way up. As long as guys have a history of TBDL work, they’ll figure it out as they progress. Of course, for speed work, I may prescribe a load.
Good one, Eric. Thanks. Adding this to the current arsenal. I wonder how awkward this would be with a straight bar, say where someone doesn’t have all the equipment, but has a band they want to utilize? I’m guessing it would work… just watch the shins and kneecaps.

Love the T bar deadlift. Thanks. What brand of band do get the most uses out of and how much tension do you prefer?

Eric what kind of load on the bar do you recommend starting with?

Jason – we usually just use the 1″ band. I believe it’s about 80 lbs at the top.
