Fascinating Facts About Sleep - This was a fantastic piece by TC Luoma at T-Nation about the importance of sleep - and you'll definitely learn something.

Foam Rolling and Increased Joint ROM - This was a study summary from Patrick Ward.  It's a great read for those who are skeptical of the benefits of foam rolling.

Also, in light of this week's tragedy in Boston, I'd call this a must-view video.  It's the moment of silence, video tribute, and national anthem from before the first Boston Bruins game after the event.

Here are some good strength and conditioning reads to peruse this week:

Do You Have a Management Problem?  - Martin Rooney always has some great content not only in terms of training, but also with respect to how to take control of your life and make all the pieces fit together.  This is one such example.

10 Mistakes Coaches Make - My good friend John Romaniello reminded me that yesterday was the tenth anniversary of my first article at T-Nation.  While it certainly wasn't my best of all time, I thought I'd use this opportunity to highlight a different one that I wrote over the past decade that stuck out in my mind.

Training the Lactate System - Patrick Ward brings to light some great points that a lot of folks overlook with respect to understanding work capacity, optimizing recovery, and training sport-specific energy systems. If you liked the discussion of heart rate variability that I posted last week, you'll enjoy this as well.

Mighty Cholesterol - Brady Cooper did a great job of discussing what cholesterol levels really mean for your health.  This is the kind of article you can send to people who just don't "get it."

Does a Normal Elbow Really Exist? - This is an old post of mine that somehow got lost in the archives, but it's well worth a read, particularly if you deal with throwing athletes.

Here are some recommended strength and conditioning readings for the week: Recovery: Athlete vs. Average Joe - Patrick Ward summarized some great research on how it takes a lot more to negatively impact performance when you reduce the outside stress in one's life. Force of Habit - This article by Lindsay Berra just ran in ESPN The Magazine.  Lindsay interviewed me for the piece on Tommy John surgery (ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction), and while I wasn't mentioned in the final version, I thought she did an outstanding job of outlining some complex topics - everything from the mechanics to the politics - in the piece. 21 Strength Exercises for Injury-Free Mass - Bret Contreras provides some great options - and the rationale for them - for those looking to make their strength training programs a little more joint-friendly over the long-term. I thought I'd kick off the week with some recommended strength and conditioning reading: Michael Mullin on his Postural Restoration Institute Experiences - I thought this was a great "random thoughts" piece from Michael Mullin, who has been a great resource to me as I've learned more and more of the PRI methodology. Massage and Inflammation Due to Muscular Damage - Patrick Ward looks at some recent research on the benefits of massage - and some of the proposed physiological mechanism through which we benefit from it. Cueing: Just One Piece of Semi-Private Success - Part 1 and Part 2 - I wrote this two-part series back in 2010 to highlight some of the differences between cueing and coaching - and how appreciating that difference had made me more effective as a coach (on top of helping Cressey Performance grow).
