Are You Packing the Shoulder Correctly?

I gave a seminar this past weekend to an awesome group of over 80 trainers, representing 10 countries.

They were an enthusiastic bunch with a lot of great questions, but none stuck out in my mind quite as prominently as when a few of them questioned some comments I made with respect to "packing the shoulder."  With that in mind, I thought I'd pull together a webinar on the topic for you.  It's especially timely, in light of this week's release of Functional Stability Training of the Upper Body.  Check it out:

    I love your work Eric, but the demonstration of posterior tilting and packing is really subtle. I can’t really make much out because the tshirt obscures us from easily viewing the motion of the scapula.

    Likewise on your video regarding proper pushup form. The video is great, but if the person being shown on camera removes their shirt, it’s alot easier to see what proper form is.

    I think people have a hard time differentiating between the lat’s and the serratus anterior. It’s probably because one is on top of the other.

    This kind of video will make it a bit more clear for a lot of people.

    Eric, great video it was very informative. I still have a question in regards to the lats being a stabilizer for the lumbar spine. Stuart Mcgill has people actively engage the lats during the deadlift to promote more stability and to maintain a neutral spine, in your opinion is this a correct way of utilizing the lats for spinal stability? Last question a little off topic, has to do with the pallof press. Does the pallof press actively engage the QL on the side opposite the line of pull along with internal and external obliques and is the glute medius stabilizing the hip closest to the line of pull?

    I have been diligently working for a four years on this strategy, It happened due to self discovery and self deliberation to heal a shoulder injury. I am excited to see that some big gun people are coming on board in opposition of the packing the lat strategy. I believe it ruined my shoulder, thoracic and core capabilities. I have been thinking of doing some type of webinar or video series to share the strategies we developed here at Rebel taking it from the ground up. Being such an accomplished educator and coach, do you have any suggestions for me.
